Giant concrete arrow, Strevell, Idaho
Before there were modern navigation aids, air mail pilots had nothing to direct them, so the Post Office placed a system of giant arrows along the flight routes. A few of these arrows still exist if you can find them. There used to be a beacon on the box behind the arrowhead. Most were torn down to reuse the steel during World War II.
