Matt Warner was an outlaw who was one of the "Wild Bunch" gang with Butch Cassidy. He also operated a saloon and brothel in Green River, Utah. After his release from prison he became a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Marshal in Price, Utah. It is remarkable how long wagon grease inscriptions can last when in a protected area.
