A baby's grave with donated coins, toys, paper peace cranes and a barbed wire heart, Manzanar, California
Little remains of an internment camp where more than 10,000 Japanese Americans were confined during World War II. The site has actually become a ghost town twice. The farming community of Manzanar was first abandoned when the city of Los Angeles purchased it for its water rights, and again when the war ended and the Japanese were released.
